2025 JW Award Recipient: Byrd Bonner

JW Award-Byrd

The Alamo Theatre Arts Council proudly honors Byrd Bonner with the 2025 Jasmina Wellinghoff Award for his outstanding dedication to the San Antonio theatre community!

Byrd Bonner loves live theatre, whether onstage, backstage, applauding, sobbing, promoting, or investing. Since his first audition in 1984, Byrd has performed in more than 40 productions over as many years. Shortly after, he was elected to the first of many local theatre-related boards, including serving as an inaugural member of the ATAC Board.

His work onstage has earned him numerous Globe Awards as both a lead and supporting actor in dramas, comedies, and musicals, a rare distinction. San Pedro Playhouse (then known as SALT) honored Byrd with the Bindley Award in 1991 for his service as President and leadership in capital campaign efforts.

A family law attorney by day, Byrd continues to support local theatres as well as productions in New York.
